One of Toledo's well-known citizens started blitely along a week or so ago, on his 76th year. He is Christian Braunschweiger, who enjoyed his 75th birthday anniversary a week ago or so ago, one Saturday. For many years the Braunschweiger brothers, Chris and John, were prominent in the business and political life of our town. John died; since then Chris has retired from active business. all of his friends hope that he'll easily live to be a hundred.

Pioneer Toledoan Dies Christian Braunschweiger, 75, succumbs after extended illness
Christian Braunschweiger 75, a native Toledoan, died Wednesday in his home , 703 Fernwood avenue. He had been ill since February. Mr. Braunschweiger was a partner in the Braunschweiger Bros. Machine Shop for 34 years. He was appointed a member of the city board of elections by the late Mayor Sam M Jones and served on the board until it was abolished. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Amelia Spenker Braunschweiger; a daughter Mrs. Alice Hirsch, and a granddaughter, Barbara Hirsch. A brother, John, died several years ago. The body will be in the residence until 10 A. M. Friday when it will be taken to the foth & Son Funeral home. Services, in charge of the Improved Order of Red Men, Toledo Tribe No. 131, of which Mr. Braunschweiger was a member, will be at 2 P. M. Friday. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetary.

Funeral servicese for Christian Braunschweiger, member of the old City Board of Elections, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Foth Mortuary, 2310 Jefferson Avenue. Services will be conducted by Toledo Tribe No 131, Improved Order of Red Men, of which Mr. Braunschweiger was a member. Burial will be in Woodlawn. Mr Braunschweiger, who was 75, and a lifelong resident of Toledo, died Wednesday in his home, 703 Fernwood Avenue. He had been ill since suffering a stroke Feb 6. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Amelia Spenker Braunschweiger; daugher, Mrs. Alice Hirsch, and granddaughter Barbara Hirsch. For 34 years Mr. Braunschweiger was a partner in Braunschweiger Bros. machine shop. He retired two years ago. He was appointed to the City Board of Elections by Mayor Sam Golden Rule Jones and served on it until abolishment of the board.
In 1900 Chris was listed as living at 328 Chapman with just his wife Ameila. Could only find the Soundex file not the actual listing. Listed as being a blacksmith for Shaw Kendall and Co and boarding at 588 Prouty (with his father) - also listed as working for Seamless Cutlery Co.
Toledo Blade, 9/22/1943 John Braunschweiger 1862-1936 More than 80 years ago, in January, 1862, John Braunschweiger was born in Toledo. He had a brother, Christopher. Each is dead, but they had an active part in the earlier development of the city. Each was a cheerful chap. John, whose picture appears herewith, was president of the C. L. U. for several terms, a mechanic by trade, and, like his brother Chris, was a good Democratic politician. He was a 14th Ward Councilman.
