Emily Marie Braunschweiger, his niece, remembers going to downtown Toledo as a child and she would see Robert directing traffic. He would always embarrass her by calling out to her and kidding her - all in the middle of the street!

Police Sergeant Dies in Hospital
Police Sergt. Robert Braunschweiger, 58, died yesterday in Toledo Hospital after a month's illness. He lived at 2052 South Kennison Dr.
Sergeant Braunschweiger, a lifelong Toledoan, was appointed to the police division May 16, 1929. He served on scout car duty until 1945 when he was placed on the vice squad.
In 1948 he was appointed a dispatcher and worked in that capacity until his illness. He was promoted to sergeant Dec. 1, 1955. For many years he was active in the Fraternal Order of Police.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret D.: daughter, Mrs. Robert Martin, Los Angeles; brothers, Carl and Paul; sisters, Mrs. Arthur Toepfer and Mrs. Alma Baird, all of Toledo, and a granddaughter.
The body will be in the Coyle Mortuary, Broadway after 7 p.m. today. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the mortuary. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park
