Another Obituary: unknown paper

John Braunschweiger, who died Wednesday, was an outstanding citizen of Toledo. During the course of his long life - he had passed the alloted threescore and ten by two years - he took a definite, active and useful part in matters of labor, of government and of politics. His stalwart frame and resonat voice were features in many a hard fought campaign for human rights, or for those things that he believe to be desirable for the community. He was long a leader in union labor circles, then a member for several terms of the city council and at all times, whether himself a candidate or not, a militant battler for Democratic policies and the Democratic ticket. He was well known and highly respected in every section of the city. His tasks were well done and his record is a part of the history of Toledo.

John Braunschweiger 1862-1936
More than 80 years ago, in January, 1862, John Braunschweiger was born in Toledo. He had a brother, Christopher. Each is dead, but they had an active part in the earlier development of the city. Each was a cheerful chap. John, whose picture appears herewith, was president of the C. L. U. for several terms, a mechanic by trade, and, like his brother Chris, was a good Democratic politician. He was a 14th Ward Councilman.
