In 1853 John W Loar settled in Knsas on a quarter section of land on the Delaware reservation. Spec. Northwest Quarter of Section 22, Township 9, Range 22 - property occupied by M.M. Jewett in 1899. Farmer - grains and horses. Bought house in city in 1896. Born in Ohio and reared in W. Va he returned to Ohio as an adult where he was engaged inn contracting in brick and stone masonwork. Moved in 1840 to Boone Co, KY also as stone mason. He later moved to Florence where he ran a mercantile business. In 1851 moved to St. Joe MO and then to Kansas. During Civil War rented his farm, moved to Leavenworth and had horse contracts with the government. Sold approx 2000 horseds to0 the government which allowed him to build a fine home in 1865. He owned a number of different businesses and real estate in Leavenworth. Build the territorial road between Leavenworth and Lawrence in 1857 - by court order. John married Lucinda HOSKINS, daughter of Joseph HOSKINS, on Oct 10, 1848 in Kenton Co, KY.33 (Lucinda HOSKINS was born on Mar 3, 1828 in Gillia Co, Ohio 3,37 and died on Feb 24, 1895 in Leavenworth, KS.)
