Andrew Price GLACKIN

  General Notes:

Listed in census as owning real estate valued at $10,000.
Came with father to Boone Co, Ky after war of 1812. After father died in 1821 Andrew purchased the farm and then added several sections. In his will dated 1/17/1882 and probated 3/5/1883 Andrew Glackin specifically set aside and reserved the area as a cemetary. After his death the balance of the farm was sold to Frank F. Robinson who owned it until his death in 1925. Both of his wives were granddaughters of Andrew Glackin (Laura Glackin Robinson and
Georgia Carpenter Robinson)
Was taken care of during final illness by negro servant Harry. Harry contracted the smallpox and died within one week. Harry is buried in the Glackin Family Cemetery.
Farmer Richwood, Boone Co
The family bible was in his bedroom when he died from smallpox and was presumed burned with the rest of his possessions. However, Martha nee Glackin Grubbs and torn the fly leaf out and was discovered when settling the estate of Perrin P Hunter in the personal papers of Ida nee Grubbs Hunter, granddaughter of Andrew and Dinah Glackin.
A winding drive led up the hill side from Richwood Road to an "imposing" white frame house. House was L shaped with 2 large rooms across the front and 2 large rooms on the eastern side. A 2 storied porch ran across the front of the house. Originally a log home a clapboard siding was added. Downstairs were four rooms - kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and guest room. ^{3,18,21,22,24,25,26}

Andrew married Mary Ellen LANCASTER, daughter of Henry LANCASTER and Sarah BOOTH, on Sep 23, 1819 in Mason, Kentucky. (Mary Ellen LANCASTER was born on Oct 24, 1802 in Germantown, Mason Co, KY, died on Dec 7, 1836 in Boone, Kentucky and was buried in Glackin Family Cemetery, Boone Co, KY.)

Andrew also married Dianah DIXON, daughter of Henry DIXON and Jane KYLE, on Oct 19, 1837 in Kentucky. (Dianah DIXON was born on Apr 5, 1806 in Devon, Boone, Kentucky, died on Apr 8, 1879 and was buried in Glackin Family Cemetery, Boone Co, KY.)
