Came across on the brig, Providence and landed at Philadelphia in 1783 moved inland and settled in Lee County, VA where he met his wife

Came to Boone Co, KY from Madison Co, KY after the War of 1812 - came with four youngest children: William, Andrew, Rachel and Matilda

Glackin family cemetery was across the hollow in the rear of the Andrew Glackin Farm home (his son) and on the opposite hillside. Today it is on the farm at 30 Richwood Road, Rural Route 2, Walton, KY. In 1978 the farm was owned by Lewis G. Davis
Operated a tavern in his home

States that William was the younger brother of John. John first came over and sent glowing accounts back to Ireland.

Went to Derry and boarded brig Providence - landed 1783 in Philadelphia and settled in Lee County, VA In spring of 1800 settled near Calloway Cree, Madison County, Ky. In 1814 he, his wife and four youngest children moved to near Richwood, Boone County, Ky
Was a farmer and innkeeper. He operated a tavern from his home and agreed to provide "good, wholesome, and cleanly lodging and diet for travelers; and stableage and pasturage for horses." His license further stipulated "And he shall not suffer nor permit unlawful gaming in his house nor permit any person to tipple or drink more than is necessary nor any time suffer any disorderly or scandalous behavior to be practiced in his home."
He died in the spring of 1821 and his wife Elizabeth was the administratrix of his estate.

First written record as landowner is 1795 in West Virginia. For ten shillings he purchased 270 acres of unpatented land in Greenbriar Co. In 1796 he purchased another 100 acres from James Bogg for 5 shillings. On 10/31/1797 he sold the 270 acre tract to James Boggs and the 100 acres to Michael Bright on 7/29/1800.

Took his family to the Calloway Creek Community in Madison Co, KY in late 1800 and then moved in the fall of 1814 to Richwood, Boone Co., Ky
Cobb's Station (Richwood) was the small community near their farm. 18,21,22,23
