Lula may Sturgeon, 83, of Bloomington. died Wednesday at Hospitality House. Born Oct. 6, 1903, in Monroe county, she was the daughter of Ora and Bertha (Sanders) Hendricks. She was a retired cook with several IU sororities. She was a member of Richland Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, James Sturgeon of Ellettsville; one foster son, Harold Sturgeon of Indianapolis; three sisters, Mildred Lawrence, Frances Sylvester and Hilda Shields, all of Bloomington: 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband. James Sturgeon, in 1957: two daughters, Frieda Boltinghouse and Erma Sturgeon; one brother Herman Hendricks; four sisters, Dovie Goodman, Vida Hendricks, Frieda Hendricks, and Sylvia Porter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Smalle officiating. Burial will be in Knightridge Cemetery. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests those who wish may make memorial contributions to their favorite charities.
