Obituary
"Gib" Loar died early today, ill several weeks. For twenty years he had been Faithful employee of city Funeral services Wednesday.
James Hickerson Loar, 69 years old, familiarly known as "Gib" Loar, and old and faithful employee of the engineering Department of the City of Leavenworth, died at 7:50 o'clock this morning at his residence 720 Walnut Street. He had been ill of stomach trouble for several weeks.
Mr. Loar was born April 11, 1859 at Covington, Kentucky. He had lived in Leavenworth practically all of his life. He had been employed by the City for more than 20 years. He had charge of the Sanitary sewer system for the engineering department. Walter V. Thomas city engineer, said " The Health of the City depended largely upon the proper exercise of his duties. Few men serve their community for as long a time ans as faithful as he did in this capacity."
Besides the widow, Mrs. Mary Loar, two daughters, two sons, three brothers and two sisters, survive him. The Daughters are Mrs. Catherine Sandusky, Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. J. G. Barney, Fort Thomas, Kentucky. The sons are John C. Loar of Leavenworth and James Raymond "Dick" also of this city. The brothers are James Loar, Levenworth, John Loar, Kansas City, Kansas and Lafayette Loar, Portland, Oregon. The sisters are Miss Matilda Loar Kansas City Missouri and Mrs Mattie Mills of Toledo, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday Morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetary.
The body was removed this afternoon from the O'Donnell Chapel to the home of James Raymond Loar, 112 West Seventh Street.
